Holy Name Parish Prayers

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS (2006)

God of all vocations,

You call us each by name

Assuring us of your love

And inviting us to respond.

Hear us now as we place this need before you:

Give to our Church and Diocese

More vocations to the ordained ministry,

Especially good and holy priests

To gather us at your table

of the Word and the Eucharist.

As we ponder your Word in our hearts,

May we hear the voice of your Spirit

Calling forth from our own homes and families

New vocations

To priesthood, deaconate, and religious life.

Anoint and inspire

Those whom you call

with the wisdom and courage needed

To rise above

The empty distractions and false promises

Within the present culture.

May Parents consciously encourage their children

By word and example

To discern God’s call in their lives,

Including the call

To priesthood, deaconate and religious life.

We make this prayer through Jesus Christ,

Our great high Priest. Amen.
