God our Father, your merciful love

constantly draws us

away from selfishness and sin,

toward your loving embrace.

We thank you that Jesus, your Son,

gave his life on the cross

to free us from sin

and reveal the depth of your love.

Father, create in us a clean heart.

Help us truthfully examine our conscience.

Inspire us by your promise of forgiveness

to move beyond fear or denial.

Give us courage to name our moral wrongdoing

and surrender to your healing grace.

Father, you invite us

to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation regularly.

May we meet Christ in the person of the priest

and experience the joy and freedom

of your unconditional love.

This we pray in humility,

grateful for the gift of this great Sacrament

of your forgiveness, pardon and peace.
