VETERANS
This past Veterans Day, we marked the sacrifices of all our soldiers, past and
present, and all they have given to make us safe, even if our safety is of
necessity purchased for a period and not in perpetuity. To every veteran we owe
gratitude and esteem, care and support as they return to civilian life, and,
above all, an acknowledgment that their cause was noble and their sacrifice
worthwhile.
HOLY NAME SCHOOL CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION
Holy Name Elementary school plans to celebrate the Centennial of the opening of
the school. We are searching for alumni of Holy Name School. Please complete the
form at the end of the pews and drop off in the basket in the Narthex.
LIFELINES
“Respect for the dignity of the human person demands a commitment to human
rights across a broad spectrum...yet abortion and euthanasia have become
preeminent threats to human dignity because they directly attack life itself,
the most fundamental human good and the condition for all others. They are
committed against those who are weakest and most defenseless, those who are
genuinely ‘the poorest of the poor’” (US Bishops, Living the Gospel of Life,
1998 n. 5).
YEAR FOR PRIESTS - THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY ORDERS
Ordination is the sacramental act that integrates a man into the order of
bishops, presbyters, or deacons. When a man is ordained, he receives a gift of
the Holy Spirit that permits the exercise of a sacred power for the service of
the faithful. This sacred power comes only from Christ Himself through His
Church.

hours to the church and to their individual communities. Additionally the
Knights donated $150 million to the church and other worthy causes. Locally,
Ebensburg Council initiates and assists with projects and activities at Holy
Name and in the Ebensburg area.
STEWARDSHIP OF TIME - PERSONAL COMMITMENT
Vital Christian life presupposes a personal commitment and active participation
in one’s church. The responsible commitment of a share of one’s time is an
integral part of one’s expression of this commitment.
