BULLETIN NEWS
SOLEMNITY OF THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
Today we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Jesus. How sensitive is the Lord to our needs. He loves us with an everlasting love. He has taken the very substance of life, bread and wine, and made them into His Body and Blood so as to sustain, nourish and strengthen our lives by His very life! "The man who feeds on me will have life in me."
"Though we are many, we form a single body because we share the one loaf." We are all members of Christ's body. All of us have different gifts which together make the Body of Christ complete. Let us together thank and praise God for the precious gift of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
We use the occasion of this splendid feast to encourage a more active role on the part of parishioners to identify with the monthly hour of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament with members of the Nocturnal Adoration Society on the First Friday of each month and Exposition each Tuesday from 8:30AM -10:00AM. Remember, for all Catholics the Eucharist must remain the heart, core and center of their faith in Jesus Christ.

IT’S HERE!!! FESTIVAL 2010!!!
The pastor is overwhelmed with the generous outpouring of support evidenced in all the preparation for this year's Annual Festival. Open one's eyes and you see dedication, love and energy being applied in an effort to secure success for this annual event. We indeed express prayerful gratitude to those individuals manifesting so much care and concern for the well-being of Holy Name Parish.
ENTERTAINMENT CORRECTION: PLEASE NOTE the following correction to Sunday’s entertainment: 4-7PM Mario Crocetti (Band); 7-10PM The Sharptones (Band).
We ask again for parishioners to return the Raffle Chances by mid-afternoon Sunday. Encouragement is extended for parishioners to patronize all aspects of this Festival, especially the Turkey Dinner being served from 11:30 AM to 6:00 PM this Sunday. Also, parishioners willing to volunteer service, but not assigned a specific charge, should present themselves to any concession where assistance is needed.
The Big Money Raffle will take place at 10:00 PM.
Volunteers are urgently needed for the Festival Cleanup. The procedure for Cleanup late Sunday night last year was SO successful that the same method will be employed this year. Men, give the parish one hour after 10:00 PM on Sunday to return all Festival materials to their storage areas.

ADDITIONAL FESTIVAL WORKERS
Flea Market: Mary Frances Polchito and Janet Shero.

SCOUTS AND FOOTBALL PLAYERS
The massive moving of supplies and materials this past Wednesday evening as part of the necessary SET-UP for our parish’s weekend Festival was most impressive. High school age scouts and Bishop Carroll football players used muscle to carry equipment, booths, tables, chairs, flea market donations, etc. etc. to their charted locations. Special thanks to Ken Link (Scout Master) and Craig Sponsky (High School football coach) for their coordination of dozen of teenagers used in this set-up effort.

ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL - GOAL $90,794.00
To date, 18% of parishioners have contributed to the Annual Catholic Appeal.. This is our “Annual Catholic Opportunity” for building up God’s kingdom through the two dozen ministries of our Local Church. To arrive at our parish Goal, I am asking each family to make a pledge of $75.00. I suggest that you spread your payments over a three-month period if that would be to your convenience. There are those with the financial ability to contribute larger donations. All Holy Name families are requested to contribute their fair share in order to reach this assigned Goal.
Our goal this year is to achieve participation from every parishioner Your participation is vital to the success of the ACA not only for these ministries, but for our own parish as well. Please make a gift that reflects your gratitude for God’s incredible blessings. Join me in returning your completed pledge card by placing it in the collection basket within the next week. If you are unable to make a financial gift, please return your pledge card indicating that; we will see that you do not receive a second request.

BOWL-A-THON FOR HAITI
The Organization of Professional Referrals will sponsor a Bowl-a-thon on Sunday, June 13th at the Lakeview Lanes in Ebensburg to benefit Haiti. All proceeds will be given to Msgr. Gaus and sent directly to Haiti. Bowling begins at 1:00PM; $25 per person for 3 games/shoe rental. Refreshments will be served and a basket raffle will also be held. CATHOLIC MENS CONFERENCE - “MEN OF GOD - MEN OF VIRTUE”
The 2010 Conference, entitled “Men of God - Men of Virtue” is scheduled for Saturday, June 12, 2010 at St. Francis University in Loretto. Speakers this year include Richard Lane, Fr. Brian Cavanaugh and Fr. Paul Robine. Each will offer talks of personal testimony to their failures, successes, and richness of their journeys through life - sometimes in harmony with God, other times in desperate search of god’s presence. The day concludes with the Celebration of Mass by Bishop Joseph V. Adamec. We encourage the men of Holy Name, young and old, to reserve this date on your June calendar. Brochures can be found at all church entrances.

ADULT SCRIPTURE CLASSES BEGIN THIS WEEK

Beginning with the Adam and Eve story in Genesis, each week continues the journey of the People of God through the times of Abraham, Moses and the Prophets, into the time of Jesus and the early Church. Tuesdays, 7:00-8:30PM in the Church Hall, June 8, 15, 22, 29, and July 6. Bring a Bible, and bring a friend!

CATHOLIC UPDATE: SEVEN KEYS TO MARRIAGE
(Found on magazine racks) June is sometimes called the month of brides. But good Catholic marriages are always in season. This Catholic Update offers seven keys for good marriages, as well as addresses hot-button issues such as contraception, same-sex unions, cohabitation and divorce. The U.S. Catholic Bishops just issued a new pastoral letter: Marriage: Love and Life in the Divine Plan. It was written to boost marriage as a key institution in our Church and in society. “Marriage is the foundation for the family...the origin and foundation of all human society.... Getting married does not magically confer perfection. Rather, the love to which spouses are configured through the Sacrament of Marriage is powerful enough to transform their whole journey towards perfection.” Weddings are filled with hopes that will require persistent effort. What makes all the difference: keeping Christ in the marriage, and growing together spiritually over a lifetime.

HOLY NAME VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL - JULY 19 -23, 2010

Registration forms were sent home from Holy Name School and CCD. Registration forms are also available in the book racks in all church entrances, at the rectory or call Mary Harvey at 472-8139. Forms may be placed in the Sunday collection basket or returned to the rectory. STEWARDSHIP OF TALENT - ENOUGH TO PULL THE LOAD
In a museum at Greenfield Village, Dearborn, Michigan, there is a huge steam locomotive. Beside this complicated piece of machinery is a sign that indicates that 96 percent of the power generated was used to move the locomotive, and only 4 percent was left to pull the load. Your church needs much more than 4 percent of its members pulling the load, giving of their time and talent.

NAEP: Holy Name School is one of three schools in the diocese selected to represent private schools across our nation by participating in the 2011 National Assessment of Educational Progress. Teachers, principals, parents, policymakers, and researchers all use NAEP’s results to assess progress and develop ways to improve education in the United States. To have a complete picture of the academic progress of the nation’s students, it is vital that selected students in all schools participate, including private schools which represent approximately 24% of schools in the nation. Students in our 4th and 8th grade will be tested between January and March. Results from their assessments will be combined with those of other students across the United States and then published as The Nation’s Report Card.

Scrip: Scrip will be available in the Narthex on Sundays from 8:30-11:30 am and at the rectory and school office during regular office hours.
