BULLETIN NEWS
RITE OF ANOINTING - GRATITUDE
Prayerful gratitude is expressed, first, to our provident God for the multiple graces of healing received by those in attendance for this past Wednesday evening Mass and Sacrament of Anointing. Appreciation is extended also to those who were involved in the preparation of this rewarding and enriching spiritual experience as well as those who satisfied the varied roles of Ministry required for this annual event of administering the Communal Rite of Anointing. Your parish priests will administer the Sacrament of the Sick this week to the homebound. Any parishioner wishing the graces of this Sacrament and not on the regular monthly visitation list should phone the rectory (472-7244) to share your wish for a visit from a priest.

2010 FESTIVAL SUCCESS
Below is printed the financial summary of the parish’s recent Annual Festival. What joy and satisfaction should be experienced by any parishioner who contributed in stewardship of time, talent and treasure to this most successful event!!! Gratitude is expressed to the committed groups and numerous volunteers who so well planned and orchestrated this attractive three-day Parish Festival. Special thanks to the members of the Executive Committee as well as the dedicated and hard working chairpersons of the various concessions. May the Chairpersons take justifiable satisfaction and pride in their accomplishments for the enhancement of Holy Name Parish. Our prayerful gratitude will remain forever!!!

FEAST OF THE TRANSFIGURATION AUGUST 6TH
The three Apostles Peter, James and John were chosen to behold a ray of Christ=s glory. We need never forget that they, at a later date, were to witness His utter humiliation on the hill of Calvary. Friends of the Lord never fully know the way that God leads them. But if true friends, we must surrender ourselves completely into His hands. We need to give the Lord control over our lives. It is a blessing for us to know Jesus as it was for His disciples. Christ needs to hear from us that we experience joy because He is an integral part of our lives. There are days too when His power is hidden from our sight, when we feel lonely and stumble in spiritual darkness. As Jesus laid His hands on the disciples and said, “Get up! Do not be afraid,@ he also shares with us the same encouragement to recall moments in our lives of spiritual intimacy so that we may journey through life with confidence being led to the joy of the Eternal Transfiguration.

2011 FESTIVAL
The plans are well underway and are truly exciting! Everyone will be surprised. Adding two major attractions to the 50th year anniversary for both the church and Msgr. Gaus will make the 2011 Festival a really special weekend next June 3, 4, and 5. The attractions will be rolled out at the time of the 100th Anniversary of Holy Name School, so you need only wait until then, but in the meantime two clues: everyone has one and who would have ever thought??? Can you guess…doubtful because this is something very different. Keep watching the bulletin.

ATTENTION HOLY NAME ALUMNI
In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Holy Name School, the Parish Pastoral Council would like to enlist the help of former Holy Name School Alumni in briefly answering the following question: How has Catholic education enriched your life spiritually? Your answer could be used in materials commemorating the 100th Anniversary celebration. Please include your name and class year with your response and return to the school, rectory, or place in the collection basket in an envelope labeled 100th Anniversary.

ELEMENTARY CCD TEACHERS: THE PARISH NEEDS YOU
More volunteers are needed in a variety of services for the Fall Religious Education program. Besides the traditional role of catechist, we are looking for teaching-teams, classroom aides (ideal for newly confirmed seniors or volunteer moms/dads), CCD assistants to give one-on-one attention to students as needed, professional teachers willing to mentor new teacher-volunteers at their convenience, even hall monitors to assist with snacks or an occasional sick student or to make phone calls, etc. Those willing to be a substitute CCD teacher periodically are always welcome and much appreciated! If you see yourself being able to contribute to the Fall program in any of these creative ways, please contact Mary Harvey (Elementary Program) by calling the rectory office at 472-7244. The parish needs you!

JR/SR. HIGH CCD NEWS - TEACHERS NEEDED
We hope everyone is enjoying their Summer!! We would like to take this opportunity that anyone who would like to volunteer their time and talent to help teach this upcoming year, it would be greatly appreciated. We need a number of teachers for grades 7th - 11th Sunday morning from 10 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. You don't need to know everything about the catholic faith. We are here to help you. Please consider this important ministry of giving your time to the youth of our parish and passing your faith onto them. Call Nancy or Kerry McCulley at 241-7809 for more information

CATHOLIC UPDATE: Guide to the New Translation of the Roman Missal
Please read this month’s Catholic Update, found on the magazine racks. This is a concise summary of the coming Mass changes that will affect the people’s responses. Although these changes will not occur until Advent of 2011, it is good to familiarize ourselves with the new wording now so we can maintain a prayerful composure, even though we will need to rely on the Missalette for awhile. Music will also be affected, since there will be some new wording in the Gloria, Acclamations of Faith and the Holy, Holy, Holy. Keep this Catholic Update handy for future reference, or to answer questions that family or friends may ask.

ADULT SCRIPTURE CLASSES
“A Walk through the Bible” with Sr. Margie. Next 5-week series begins Tuesday August 17, 7:00-8:30PM, Church Hall. Topics: Joseph sold into slavery in Egypt, and Moses and the Exodus.

CATHOLIC LIFE CONFERENCE
Open to all, with variety of workshops for catechists, school teachers, youth ministers, RCIA teams and other parish committees. Sat, September 18, Mt. Aloysius College, Cresson, $25 per person. Keynote speaker: Msgr. James Gaston. Registration: call 693-1401.

LITURGY COMMITTEE
The Liturgy Committee is reminded of the next meeting, August 9 at 8:30AM at the Rectory.

NEWCOMERS
When you move into the parish, please register. Registration cards are on all magazine racks.

BAPTISMS
Baptisms are scheduled on an individual basis. Parents expecting their first child must complete a baptismal preparation program. Call Sr. Margie for information.

PARISH LENDING LIBRARY
The Church Library is located in the Narthex, opposite the Cry Room. The door is always open. Use the “sign out” book to list items being taken home. CD’s, DVD’s and books available.

STEWARDSHIP OF TALENT
As part of their total stewardship, Christians are concerned about the dedication of their talents. They regard personal abilities to work and to lead as another evidence of God’s loving care. In a spirit of consecration, they desire to have those talents utilized in business, in the home, in church, in such a manner that they will make a contribution to the Kingdom of God on earth. These priorities are important to them, including during the summer months.
