BULLETIN NEWS

PARISH MISSION: THANK YOU, FR. SCOTT
Our Parish Mission was a delight and a great blessing, thanks to Fr. Scott Seethaler. In his opening talk, he invited us to lay our stress on the altar and leave it there! He challenged us to embrace Seven Essential Faith Statements. 1) With God, when nothing seems to happen, something is happening. 2) God may not always be on time, but God is never late. 3) God’s promises do not die of old age. 4) God never closes one door without opening another. 5) God does not come into our lives on our terms, but on God’s terms. 6) We walk by faith, and not by sight. And 7) We live life forward and understand life backward, by hindsight. Throughout the Mission, Fr. Scott asked us to repeat after him: Life is difficult, but God is always good. May these days of retreat remind us to trust the God of Easter with all the circumstances of our lives. Special thanks to Mike Oravec for his gift of prayerful music, to our greeters, and to all who provided food and served refreshments at our evening parish socials.

ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL - GOAL $90,794.00
Next weekend will mark Commitment Sunday of the Annual Catholic Appeal. This is our “Annual Catholic Opportunity” for building up God’s kingdom through the two dozen ministries of our Local Church. To arrive at our parish Goal, I am asking each family to make a pledge of $75.00. I suggest that you spread your payments over a three-month period if that would be to your convenience. There are those with the financial ability to contribute larger donations. All Holy Name families are requested to contribute their fair share in order to reach this assigned Goal.
Our goal this year is to achieve participation from every parishioner Your participation is vital to the success of the ACA not only for these ministries, but for our own parish as well. Please make a gift that reflects your gratitude for God’s incredible blessings. Join me in returning your completed pledge card by placing it in next weekend’s collection. If you are unable to make a financial gift, please return your pledge card indicating that; we will see that you do not receive a second request.

COMMITMENT WEEKEND IS MAY 1-2, 2010

2010 PARISH CASE
With the price of electricity increasing January 2011, a major project involving church lighting is our 2010 PARISH CASE. This will be the first updating of the higher ceiling fixtures since the construction of the church in 1967. To save future costs this Parish Case project is being considered a mandate. The cost of this project is yet to be determined but we know it will be in the range of tens of thousands of dollars.
Your financial commitment to the Parish Case with contribution made payable to Holy Name Church can be placed in the envelope marked “Parish Case” in the mailing you will receive this week and returned via the collection basket at your earliest convenience. ANY DONATIONS PLACED IN THE PARISH CASE ENVELOPE WILL STAY WITH THE PARISH; DO NOT USE THE PARISH CASE ENVELOPE FOR YOUR DIOCESAN APPEAL CONTRIBUTION. If you have questions please contact the parish secretary before submitting your contributions.

YOUR EASTER GENEROSITY TO HOLY NAME
Holy Name Parish is the third largest parish in our diocese. It’s budget therefore is a challenging one. We are most grateful and prayerfully appreciative for your sensitivity to the ever present demands in satisfying financial responsibilities to all creditors. You can understand my pastoral gratitude for your exceptional generosity to Holy Name this Easter, amounting to $41,802.00. May your stewardship of treasure continue to be a blessing for this venerable parish of Holy Name.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION MASS
On Saturday, May 1, at 10:00AM, 56 of God’s little children will receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time. GRATITUDE FOR NOODLE VOLUNTEERS
The final of six sessions of noodle making occurred on April 21st. It has been a most satisfying and rewarding year for our parish based upon the generous number of volunteers present for each session. Over 1000 pounds of homemade noodles are available for sale between now and the end of our Parish Festival. Our prayerful gratitude for these and future volunteers giving of time and talent to secure a most successful Festival Event.

CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS APPEAL
Right here in the United States, some dioceses are unable to provide fundamental pastoral care for their faithful. These “home mission” dioceses cannot support an adequate number of priests. They cannot afford funding for youth ministry programs or religious education. This weekend we take up a collection for the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. Help strengthen the Church at home with a generous donation.

CARNATION DAYS
Friends of Birthright will be accepting donations in exchange for carnations before and after all Masses May 8th & 9th, Mother’s Day Weekend. Birthright is an interdenominational pregnancy support service that enables women who are facing an unintended pregnancy to choose life for their unborn babies by providing emotional and material support. Birthright helps women in these situations find medical care, clothing, food....even housing. For thousands of women, Birthright is hope. Hope that they, and their unborn children, are not alone. Since 1980, over 5,000 babies have been born in our area under the auspices of Birthright. Your support helps Birthright sustain the gift of life. Thank you.

CATHOLIC MENS CONFERENCE
The 2010 Conference is scheduled for June 12, 2010. We encourage the men of Holy Name, young and old, to reserve this date on your June calendar. Anticipate additional information in the weeks that follow.
